Information Visualization in Temporal & Clinical Databases
The amount and the complexity of data available at clinicians’ fingertips are constantly increasing as a result of technology advancements in computer performance and storage capacity. As a consequence, new tools are needed to provide easy access to the needed information. To this purpose, we developed VEDI, a system that is able to visualize considerable amounts of temporal data in a single screenshot. VEDI has been applied in the domain of hemodialysis, where it is able to provide an interactive visualization that summarizes tens of screenshots used in traditional hemodialysis systems. The proposed approach is based on the integration of 2D and 3D information visualization techniques, and offers a wide set of interactive functionalities to manipulate the visualization in order to meet individual requirements.
